Sticking to a strict palette of black, white, red, and silver, Inge Vandormael creates pen and ink drawings with geometric precision. Symmetrical, mandala-like designs inspired by Buddhist art and other Asian religious imagery are rendered with painstaking line work and filled with minute details. Inge Vandormael cites the cyclical nature of life and death as her primary inspiration. Her subject matter is not morbid, but rather symbolic. Hearts engulfed in flames and birds flying into the abyss seem to allude to the possibility of a spiritual dimension beyond the grave.
